We will work together to determine your player's, coach's, and team's individual needs and craft a plan to teach how to put attention in the places that fuel high performance. Being present in the moment and sustaining focus are crucial to performance excellence. Athletes don’t lose focus, they just put it somewhere else. It is important for an athlete to learn how to:

  • Control focus

  • Hold focus

  • Release focus

  • Bring focus back when it wanders

An athlete must know when to let focus broaden, when to make it narrow and when to wrangle it into submission because they are distracted. There are many sights, sounds, and sensations that can challenge an athlete's focus. Environmental distractions like the elements, field conditions and dynamics of the venue can be difficult to manage. There are also internal things, like anxiety, self doubt, and pain that can pull attention in the wrong direction. As with all sport psychology techniques, focus is individualized to the sport and athlete. Building on your athlete's existing strengths, we will help them craft the ability to focus when and where they need it.
